About the event
We are reissuing a selection of Barry Hines’ novels starting with The Gamekeeper, a gripping novel of rural working-class life seen through the eyes of a gamekeeper on a country estate in the North of England. To mark its publication, join us for a screening of the rarely-seen film adaptation directed by Ken Loach. There will be a series of short talks on Hines’ work and legacy from people he influenced including novelist Milly Johnson, poet Steve Ely, Professor David Forrest and Professor Sue Vice of the University of Sheffield.
