About the event

How do the stories of our childhood impact who we become? Paisley Book Festival introduces two debut novelists who ask this very question. Secondary school teacher and winner of the Northern Book Prize Sammy Wright brings us Fit, the unrelenting tale of a young protagonist trying to forge a path from foster care to a more glamorous adulthood. Mona Arshi’s Somebody Loves You depicts a young girl who refuses to speak in the midst of her mother’s mental illness, exploring the choice to own or reject the stories that shape her. Chaired by Yara Rodrigues Fowler, author of Stubborn Archivist.
