Ivan Vladislavic’s UK Tour!
Britain, Ivan Vladislavic is in you. One of South Africa’s most fascinating and accomplished contemporary writers, whose impressive range can be seen in the two novels of his we’ve published so far – Double Negative and The Restless Supermarket, pretty much different in every way except for their quality – was in Norwich last week as part of the stellar line-up for the Worlds Literature Festival (we’ve got a write-up of his event with JM Coetzee, Xiaolu Guo and Julia Franck to follow).
On Saturday he joined us for another of our lovely, casual subscriber lunches at Hardy’s Brasserie (sunny enough to sit outside! In London!), and on Sunday he was at the Literary Kitchen Festival in Peckham to read from The Restless Supermarket (not the line about the salesman buggering a pink elephant, but still hilarity-inducing).
Yesterday he was in Brighton for the announcement of the Proofreaders’ Derby, and still found time to be interviewed for The Monocle Daily (listen here). TONIGHT he’ll be in Cambridge to give an absolutely, completely free talk, with equally free wine to follow.
Finally, this Wednesday is the event Londoners will have been waiting for: Ivan, Patrick Flanery and Neel Mukherjee talk literature and South Africa at our event with Slightly Foxed – tickets are a bargain at £5, available here. We look forward to seeing you there!
