Biography
Joana Bértholo (Lisbon, 1982) is a novelist and playwright now based in Lisbon, having previously lived abroad for many years in Europe and South America. She holds a degree in Graphic Design (University of Lisbon’s Faculty of Fine Arts) and a PhD in Cultural Studies (Europa-Universität Viadrina, in Germany). Her thesis was selected and published by Routledge Press in 2017. Joana pursues a wide range of interests through writing, using both the book and the stage as a platform to investigate issues relating to ecology, technology, sustainability and narrative, among others. She has published three novels, two collections of short-stories and a children’s book with the prestigious Editorial Caminho, as well as texts in various collections and anthologies with different publishers.
