We have a special place in our collective And Other Stories’ heart for Riffraff, an amazing, new-ish bookstore in Providence, Rhode Island. Not only is it a bookshop run by the translator and translation- and indie press-mad duo Emma Ramadan and Tom Roberge who have excellent taste, it is also a bar. And one of our translators works some shifts there too. (That’s Julia Sanches, translator of Susana Moreira Marques’s superb hybrid work Now and at the Hour of Our Death,as well as of a couple of upcoming And Other Stories’ titles by Claudia Hernandez and Eva Baltasar.)
Translator Heather Cleary caught up with the booksellers recently for an interview on Book Marks (a Lithub channel), where they talk about the shop and some of the books they’re currently excited about.
