We’re delighted to announce that Crossing the Sea: With Syrians on the Exodus to Europe has been chosen as the first Migration Matters City Read! During June, 600 free copies of the book will be given away in libraries and cafes across the city.
By acclaimed journalist Wolfgang Bauer, with photography by Stanislav Krupar and translated by Sheffield translator Sarah Pybus, it is the only book by a journalist who has actually accompanied refugees being smuggled to Europe from Syria and is a fascinating and eye-opening first-hand account.
Pick up a copy of the book at one of the giveaway points, or buy a copy in the usual way, and then come to the friendly book club discussion where the translator Sarah Pybus and editor Stefan Tobler look forward to chatting with you about the book.
12 noon, Friday 22nd June, Carpenter Room, Sheffield Central Library.
All are welcome, including children if accompanied by an adult.
