Dear booksellers,
We are a social enterprise, and choose fiction for its originality and appeal after listening carefully to our circles of readers, writers and translators, many of whom are eminent figures in their field. We chose to publish only a carefully selected handful of titles each year for which we are happy to put our collective hand in the fire and say: this one you have to read!
Once you have seen and read a few of our books, we are sure you’ll agree that our books are pure quality, in every way. The generous sized paperbacks printed on Munken paper have durable card covers with French flaps. We aim to create a valuable and long lasting series which people will covet, collect and re-read.
Here is the trade edition of our current catalogue, we hope you’ll agree that this is a list of books to die for.
Stefan, Sophie & Bethan
Ongoing – Deborah Levy
Deborah Levy is available for events and signings in connection with Swimming Home. She lives in London and is an incredibly engaging speaker and has a wonderful reading voice. She talks with humour and candour about both the joys and challenges of writing and the breadth of experience that has brought her to write Swimming Home and to publish with And Other Stories. Her warmth and intellectual breadth, and her commitment to fiction in the context of a wider engagement with the world always leads to a sparkling, inspiring conversation.March 2012 – Clemens Meyer
Clemens Meyer will be back in the UK in March for a whistlestop tour of Edinburgh and Leeds. He was a real hit with his audiences at the 2011 Edinburgh International Book Festival and in London in August. An amusing and lively reader of his own stories with fluent English, do get in touch if you would like to arrange an event with him on another visit.
May-June; August 2012 – Carlos Gamerro
Bilingual in English and Spanish, Carlos Gamerro will be coming from late May to mid-June for the launch of The Islands, at the time of the 30th anniversary of the Falklands War, about which this crazy, Pynchonian cyber-detective novel is partly about.
August 2012 – Iosi Havilio; Christoph Simon; Carlos Gamerro
Iosi Havilio of Open Door, Christoph Simon of Zbinden’s Progress and Carlos Gamerro of The Islands will visit in late August to early September 2012. If you would like to invite one of them to a festival or other event, please get in touch with us.
