Russian reading group: 18 readers made it to Pushkin House for a wide-ranging discussion, 4th April 2011.
The books for our spring 2011 reading are: Aleksey Slapovsky’s The First Second Coming, Elena Chizhova’s Children of Zaches, Oleg Pavlov’s Captain of the Steppe, and Oleg Zaionchkovsky’s Happiness is Possible.
We hope you’ll join us. Add your comments to the author pages and we’d love to see you at our London meet-ups. Thanks to your discussion online and in person, one or more of these books might make it into English. The main thing for now is the pleasure of a good talk about some hotly tipped books.
Extracts in English are on this website where possible – see the relevant author’s page. Copies of the books in the original Russian were also available to borrow from And Other Stories.
Duration:
4th March – 4th April 2011
