Is Publishing for Me? An Open Day

All Books diagonal_2

10-3.30pm, Saturday 21st April
Carpenter Room, Sheffield Central Library, Surrey St, S1 1XZ

Know someone who loves books and might like to work in publishing? Tell them about Sheffield publishing house And Other Stories’ open day! Speakers will lift the lid on different areas of publishing and answer your questions. Plus, all participants will be able to choose an And Other Stories book to take away.

And Other Stories is committed to helping the publishing industry represent all of British society and will reserve spaces for participants from marginalised backgrounds.

This is the first in a regular series of ‘Is Publishing for Me?’ days, which And Other Stories is organising with support from other presses including Leeds-based Peepal Tree Press. If you want to hear about future dates, sign up to our newsletter here:

**31 January Update – Extra Tickets**

Although the event is now sold out on the Tickets for Good site, we still have an allocation of tickets reserved for participants from parts of society less well-represented or marginalised in publishing, such as BAME, low-income, LGBTQ and disabled people. For participants from groups under-represented in publishing, the tickets are free and we will also pay for travel to the event from around the North and Midlands. To reserve one of these extra tickets, please email

    Hi there,

I am an English student at the University of Sheffield and I received an email a few hours ago from the English department about your event ‘Is Publishing For Me?’. I came onto your website to buy a ticket but see that unfortunately they are all sold out. I just wondered whether you have some sort of waiting list that I could be added to, in case anybody drops out nearer the time?

    Many thanks,

    Elisa Small.
