Patty Yumi Cottrell and Michelle Tea nominated for the Not the Booker Prize!

Yes, we too waited with baited breath for the clock to strike midnight:01 last Thursday, as the Man Booker dozen was announced. And of course we were disappointed not to see Patty Yumi Cottrell’s brilliantly skewed Sorry to Disrupt the Peace or Michelle Tea’s dystopically dreamy Black Wave get a mention: the Man Booker Prize can launch a book like nothing else (we know! Sales of Deborah Levy’s Swimming Home are more than five times that or our next-bestselling book – though don’t tell anyone).

BUT! All is not lost! The wonderful people behind The Guardian‘s Not the Booker Prize are here to save us, and this year, both our eligible books have been nominated!

And here’s where you come in:

This is a people-powered prize, so if you enjoyed either of these fantastic, unique books we’d like to encourage you to vote for them.

You have to vote for two nominated books from different publishers, and you must give a short rationale for your first choice. (There are lots of books from other great indie publishers, if you’re stuck for a second choice!)

Please vote here by 23.59 BST on Monday 7 August 2017!
