Congratulations to Yuri Herrera and translator Lisa Dillman on winning the 2016 Best Translated Book Award!
The prize, which is administered by Three Percent at the University of Rochester, NY, is given each year to the best book translated into English and published in the US. The $10,000 prize money is split equally between the author and the translator of the book.
Herrera and Dillman beat off competition from Elena Ferrante, Valeria Luiselli and Clarice Lispector to win the prize.
Signs Preceding the End of the World is available from all good bookshops, as is Herrera’s second novel in English, The Transmigration of Bodies, which was also translated by Lisa Dillman, and published in July.
