Talking translation at the London Literature Festival

Once again, the London Literature Festival is almost upon us, and And Other Stories authors are set to join in, taking over London’s South Bank Centre between Monday 28 September and Monday 12 October 2015.

As well as separate appearances from Lina Wolff, Carlos Gamerro and Niyati Keni, publisher Stefan Tobler will dish the dirt on publishing literature in translation with Ellah Alfrey, Peirene Press and Cassava Republic.

AGENTS OF DISCOVERY: Tracking Down Talents in Translation

From the great masterpieces of world literature, to romance fiction from Africa, to contemporary European fiction, translated literature and English-language fiction from beyond our borders reminds us we are not alone in an uncertain world.

Despite this only three percent of books published in the UK are in translation.

Meet publishers committed to bringing us stories from outside the Anglophone bubble in a celebration of translated fiction, and the impact it is having on contemporary publishing. These publishers are determined to change the future of publishing and bring us stories beyond what we expect. And Other Stories’ very own Stefan Tobler will join the publishers of Peirene Press (Meike Ziervogel) and Cassava Republic (Bibi Bakare-Yusuf) for a conversation about how they track down new talents in English and in translation. Chaired by Ellah Allfrey.

Tickets for this event are £8 and can be booked here!
